Where to
start the school in Payyanur was a big question before us. There was no
second thought, as we wanted to launch this dream school away from the busy
town. We could find a beautiful, panoramic and ideal location at Vaippiriyam
in Kankol – Alappadamba Grama Panchayat. This 8-acre serene and picturesque
campus we named it – “Hill View” is hardly 10 kms east of Payyanur town and
just 1 km south of Mathil. One can easily enjoy the beauty of the Arabian
Sea and the lush green cashew garden, coconut and areca nut palms from the
campus.
According to legend the
name “Kankol – Alappadamba” is related to “DAKSHAYAGA” led by “Kapila
Maharshi”. The name Kankol is derived from Kapilan Kovil where this Yaga was
conducted. Most of the places in this Panchayat are related to this famous
Yaga.
The School started in
2004. Our endeavour is to provide a balanced and holistic education with
equal emphasis on developing life skills and academic excellence in order to
equip our children to face any competition or challenge in their future
life.
This
School, no doubt, will emerge as a premier English medium school to be
affiliated to CBSE. With this school the long awaited dream of the whole
community in this remote area will come true. The school can very well
cater to the needs of children residing at Payyanur municipal area as well
as near by Panchayats.

The
Mother School is sponsored and managed by Progressive Education Trust, a
non-profitable and charitable Trust.

The role and scope of
the School
“The Mother School” is a co-educational
institution, which is open to all. The need for quality education is felt by
one and all in the society today because of the tough competition in various
walks of life. The large number of transferable professionals, other central
and state government employees, business community and a large number of
NRI’s in and around Payyanur, its neighbouring areas and all over India need
a system of education and syllabi which would facilitate their easy mobility
from across the country and from abroad for their children. Such an
education calls for a schooling that goes beyond the traditional boundaries
of text-books and chalk and talk but includes exposure to everything one
finds in the modern world.
Precisely, the need is realised more
ironically than ever before for a truly comprehensive education which will
